How to identify the metal wire mesh is hot dip galvanized or electro galvanized and the relative merits of galvanized technology?

Galvanized technology has good character of rust-proof, that’s why the metal screen mesh need galvanized treatment in many occasions. Compare with electro galvanized, hot dip galvanized has high zinc coat and better rust resistance. Many customers cares about the galvanized problem, hereby we’ll introduce more details as below.

Customers cares about the relative merits of galvanized craft and the differences between them. Besides, it’s necessary and normal that they worry about if the order is hot dip galvanized but cheated by electro galvanized, as you know, the cost of hot dip galvanized is more higher than electro galvanized. However, due to this concern, it restricts the factory and loses the chance of sell seconds with best prices, what’s more it’s beneficial of healthy market competition both for customer and factory.

Firstly let’s learn the differences between crafts, the process of hot dip galvanized is wipe off the wire oil - acid washing - immerse in medicine liquid - drying - immerse in zinc liquid - take out. While, cold galvanized also called electro galvanized, it uses electrolysis equipment to wipe off the wire oil, put into the zinc liquid after acid washing and connect the electrolysis negative; on the other side put the zinc plate connected to electrolysis positive, then switch on the power, utilizing the electricity directional movement from positive to negative, the wire will be coated a layer of zinc as a result. The best way to identify the zinc rate of hot dip galvanized and electro galvanized is chemical composition test, but many customers don’t own this condition, so experience identification would be more important.

Secondly, differences in appearance as follows: electro galvanized surface look more smooth, bright, the yellow and green is main color of zinc coat and appears colorful due to colors passivation process. Using white passivation process would make the zinc coat bluish white or white/green and slightly show colorful when zinc coat and sunshine at a certain angle. The zinc coat would be thicker if there happens “over burnt” case for some complex wires. On the contrary, the zinc coat would be thinner because short of electricity on some internal corners. Totally speaking, the wires should be no zinc lumps appearance.

Comparing with electro galvanized, the hot dip galvanized looks more rough and darker with silver color, there maybe have water mark and few drop of tumor on the surface especially on the end of some wires, but the zinc coat thickness and corrosion resistance of are dozens times of electro galvanized. However, cold galvanized has brighter and smooth look with low corrosion resistance due to thin zinc coat.

Above all, we can identify the relative merits of galvanized technology from the appearance, good technology owns uniform zinc coat without omission, bad technology hold the opposite status.
