Function of alloy elements in stainless steel wire net

Alloy element is very important in stainless steel wire net. And each element has different character to the final property. MAISHI WIRE MESH MANUFACTURE GROUP as a professional stainless steel wire net manufacturer. Here we will talk about the functions of the alloy element.

(1) Chromium (Cr)

Chromium can increase the hardness of steel and has a secondary hardening effect, which can improve the hardness and wear resistance of carbon steel without making the steel brittle. When the content exceeds 12%, the steel has good high-temperature oxidation resistance and oxidation resistance corrosion resistance, and also increases the heat strength of the steel. Chromium is the main alloying element of stainless steel acid-resistant steel and heat-resistant steel.

(2) Nickel (Ni)

Nickel is an excellent corrosion-resistant material and an important alloying element for alloy steel. Nickel is an element of austenitic in steel, but low-carbon nickel steel requires a pure austenitic structure with a nickel content of 24%; and only 27% nickel contains the steel resistance in some media. Corrosion performance changes significantly.

(3) Molybdenum (Mo)

Molybdenum improves the corrosion resistance of stainless steel mesh. Compared to non-molybdenum-free stainless steels, molybdenum-containing stainless steel wire net generally have better corrosion resistance and are often used in more corrosive environments such as chemical or marine applications.

(4) Maganese (Mn)

Manganese and nickel are alloying elements that promote the formation of austenite, so they can replace nickel (or partial substitution), but manganese itself is not corrosion-resistant. Therefore, manganese cannot be used as an alloying element in stainless steel wire mesh. Manganese to austenite The effect of the body is similar to that of nickel. Instead of forming austenite, it reduces the critical cooling rate of steel, improves the stability of austenite during cooling, and inhibits the decomposition of austenite.

Apart from the above elements, other elements like Carbon (C), Nitrogen (N), Copper (Cu), Titanium (Ti), Phosphorus (P), Sulphur (S), etc. also have specific function in stainless steel wire net. For the function of other elements, please contact MAISHI WIRE MESH MANUFACTURE GROUP
