Stainless steel wire mesh damage

Stainless steel wire mesh has good corrosion resistance, high temperature oxidation resistance, good low temperature performance and excellent mechanical properties. Therefore, it is widely used in the screening, filtration, chemical packing, petroleum screening and other industries under acid and alkali environmental conditions.

Stainless steel wire mesh often breaks during use and is analyzed by chemical composition analysis, metallographic examination, scanning electron microscopy and x-ray energy spectrum analysis. The results show that stress corrosion and pitting corrosion are the main reasons for the fracture of stainless steel wire mesh. Corrosive media are chloride ions in the humid atmosphere of the ocean or various aqueous solutions processed in chemical production. The broken wire mesh material is poor, the chemical composition does not meet the relevant technical conditions, the chromium and nickel content are low, and the manganese content is high, which makes the corrosion resistance of 1Cr18Ni9 steel decrease, and more dispersed carbide particles appear in the microstructure. Ferrite greatly reduces the resistance of the wire to stress corrosion and pitting. And destroying the stainless steel mesh passivation film will also reduce its corrosion resistance.

In addition its main role is to prevent corrosion and rust. The corrosion resistance of stainless steel mesh is mainly determined by the passivation film on its surface. If the film is incomplete or defective, the stainless steel will still be corroded. Pickling passivation is a commonly used treatment in engineering, which makes the corrosion resistance of stainless steel more effective. Surface oil, rust, non-metallic dirt, low-melting metal contaminants, paint, welding slag in forming, assembly, welding, welding inspection, flaw detection and other stress tests and architectural signs stainless steel equipment and components, etc., these materials affect the quality of stainless steel surface Equipment and components, destroying the oxide film on the surface, reducing the overall corrosion resistance and local corrosion resistance of the stainless steel mesh (including pitting, crevice corrosion), and even causing stress corrosion cracking. Stainless steel wire mesh surface is clean, pickled and passivated, in addition to maximum corrosion resistance, it also prevents product contamination and aesthetics.
