The difference between 304 and 316 in corrosion resistance

Most filtration environments are acid-base, high temperature, and corrosive. So most filters are made of stainless steel. We can choose the right material according to the environment after we know the corrosion resistance of different stainless steel materials clearly.

Stainless steel is a kind of alloy steel. By adding trace elements such as molybdenum, nickel, chromium and manganese to ordinary steel, the strength, hardness, toughness, corrosion resistance and high liuruitemperature resistance of the material itself can be improved.

Theoretically, the higher the nickel content, the better the corrosion resistance of the material.Nickel also has good ductility. We know, the nickel content of 316 stainless steel is higher than 304, so 316 stainless steel mesh has the better corrosion resistance and ductility than 304.

Besides, compared with 304, 316 stainless steel has obvious molybdenum addition, which can obtain better pitting corrosion resistance and high temperature resistance, also reduce the corrosion of certain hot organic acids. When the concentration of sulfuric acid is lower than 15% and higher than 85%, 316 stainless steel has a wide range of applications. Therefore, 316 stainless steel can be used under severe conditions. And it is often used in marine and chemical industrial environments. Also can be used in production equipment such as dyes, paper, oxalic acid, fertilizers, etc.
