The difference of selvage and cutting edge of stainless steel wire mesh

The way of processing the ends of the stainless steel wire mesh is usually divided into selvage and cut edge.

“Selvage” refers to the edge of wire cloth that has a finished edge. Generally speaking, a selvage will increase the stability of mesh. Looped selvage, as seen in the photo below, is the most common type of selvage edge.

Selvage stainless steel woven mesh is commonly used in mining, petroleum, chemical, construction, machinery accessories, can be used for protection, packaging, baskets, food machinery, also can be used as barbecue mesh, hardware finished mesh, decoration mesh, vibrating screens, etc..It has widely usage in food industry, filtration industry, breeding and etc..

“Cutting edge”refers to the edge that is not continuously woven and is usually the result of manufacturing wire mesh on a rapier loom. Cutting edge is the predominant edge type in the industry, particularly on higher mesh type ( ≥20 mesh).

The production processing is fast and the price is relatively cheap. During the handling process, workers must wear protective gloves to prevent the fingers from being punctured. And it can be used for direct filtration, with simple process, good gas permeability and stable precision.

The choice of the processing method of the ends of stainless steel wire mesh is according to the detailed specification.
